About Me:
Family man with wonderful wife and three kids. Currently work with Center for the Environment at Purdue University. Raised on a small farm in Little Pine Creek watershed, near Otterbein Lake in Indiana. Spent three years exploring hunter-gatherer lifestyle in northern Great Lakes. Hold an MS in ethology and a PDC in permaculture design. I am most interested in finding ways of living light on the earth, in a sustainable manner.

Yeah thats right I am the drummer. Shoot, it hasn't registered meeting you, maybe it will after we are in each others presence again. But yup, I was the guy at the IWLA with the drum at the first over-night.

I could use the kit...does it come with matches?
Before I'd go on a 'hunter/gatherer' trip, I'd need an experienced guide/training, and a lot of practice!

Thanks, Derek. Would be a pleasure to meet and talk with you. if you are down Lafayette way let me know! It is interesting that you list so many common interests. I also saw your post on Starhawk...I read 5th sacred thing back in grad school and really got into the "original blessing - mathew fox" view of religion. Your Heartland group sounds great! I've been working "for the Man" the past 10 years and to most people am the typical middle class man, but along the way trying to do the best good for water in Indiana. More and more my family and I are leaning toward simplifying and getting back to our roots. Our goal is to find land in the area where we can enact a sustainable lifestyle as much in harmony with the land and neighbors as possible.

I'm new to the whole online social networking thing...

Family man, yes. Light on the earth, yes. But, really, you don't mention you can make fire! Some people just hide their light under a basket...

We need to meet sometime, we share much in common. I work on the Upper Maumee watershed, I am a working-member and secretary for a nonprofit Heartland Communities whos sole purpose is working in sustainability and permaculture. I also have histroy and experiece studing and living hunter-gatherer lifestyles and natural living. But then again, the more I get acclimated, the smaller Indiana becomes, I am sure we will meet eventually.
