What is really in our water?

Well in the watershed work I am involved with, I deal mostly with nonpoint source pollution, pollution for any possible where but any a specific direct source. "I somehow feel I'm preaching to the ...

Profile

About Me:
I'm the Secretary of the Board for Heartland Communities, Inc. A 501c3 nonprofit that is organized as a worker-cooperative and works in sustainability for the environment and community. It is a living organic entity where all working members are equal owners and voters in the work. It is also a mother-ship organization that umbrella's many initiatives.

Personally I come from a strong grassroots activist/artist background with a talent to organize and produce. I am consistantly twisted up in the school of life and academics who values an environmental and socially responsible pro-active D.I.Y. "cooperative" lifestyle. Be real and be green...Dig it.

The River of Life by Starhawk

The River of Life by Starhawk The River of Life by Starhawk Once a people lived along the banks of the river of life. The river of life is a river of sweet water, that awakens the seeds of spring and nourishes all growing things. The river of life is a storm wind, blowing fresh across the earth. The river of life is the deep molten fire that shakes the continents. And the people should have had all they needed for happiness and joy, But they were plagued by a terrible monster, the triple-head… Continue

Derek,
thanks for the welcome. As you know from the news, there are a few fires going here in the North State so our skies are a bit smokey, however, it makes the sunlight orange and that is interesting as an effect but hard to breathe for long. Yeah, campers can be pretty thoughtless about forest areas. I do believe they sometimes think someone gets paid to clean up behind them no matter where they are. It is untrue, of course, but I have seen folks leave their garbage all sacked up and neatly stacked at the edge of their camp. I guess it is a step in the right direction since they didn't leave it strewn about, but there is no garbage service in the woods so it just leaves a smorgasborg for the animals to forage through.

Derek,

Hey I think we have met, but didn't get to talk....at the Indiana Watershed Leadership Academy back in January. Were you the guy that brought the drums?

Thanks, Derek. Would be a pleasure to meet and talk with you. if you are down Lafayette way let me know! It is interesting that you list so many common interests. I also saw your post on Starhawk...I read 5th sacred thing back in grad school and really got into the "original blessing - mathew fox" view of religion. Your Heartland group sounds great! I've been working "for the Man" the past 10 years and to most people am the typical middle class man, but along the way trying to do the best good for water in Indiana. More and more my family and I are leaning toward simplifying and getting back to our roots. Our goal is to find land in the area where we can enact a sustainable lifestyle as much in harmony with the land and neighbors as possible.

I'm new to the whole online social networking thing...

Hi Derek,
Unfortunately, I have no real audio to share......Perhaps you can hear me sometime, though..I am moving to Lafayette, IN, over the next week or two...I will be involved musically up in that area...Let's keep in touch and I can let you know where I may be playing...I know one place, possibly, on Saturday PM, July 5th...at the Twilight Coffee House in downtown Lafayette.
Thanks for your interest! BwR

Yea, I know Eric. I met he and his wife at the River Rally last year. He also has the IndianaOutdoors and IndianaRivers.com sites.

My only problem is having enough time to contribute to all of these sites.

BTW, the "AWM" upload didn't take.

Have you sent this to NEIGBC yet?

Dude, you saw that already? I just loaded it up and then decided it was too awkward looking. I'm uploading the trailer for "A Watershed mentality" now.
