- Celebrate “Green Weekend 2010” with us on Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12 in downtown South Bend.
This two-day event will combine the best of WNIT’s Green Expo and the best of Downtown South Bend’s EcoFest to transform the heart of South Bend into a weekend-long celebration of the environment and sustainable living.
Green Weekend 2010 will have something for everyone!
Friday, June 11 Green Weekend activities will kick off at the Century Center and Island Park, located at 120 S. Saint Joseph Street. Friday’s festivities will include a very special Keynote Lunch & Learn*, a Green Workshop series presented by local and regional business leaders and experts in the environmental sector, and open exhibits providing green educational and business opportunities to all members of our community. We’ll wind down the day with a celebration on Island Park where you’re invited to join us for live music, food and drinks, surrounded by the beautiful St. Joseph River. All exhibits and workshops are free and open to the public. *Luncheon fee applies.
Saturday, June 12 Green Weekend activities will continue at Howard Park,
located at 219 S. Saint Louis Street, in downtown South Bend. Saturday’s festivities will feature family-oriented fun for all ages. Enjoy the great outdoors while exploring and learning about the various eco-friendly initiatives, programs and activities helping to protect and preserve our natural environment and our health. All exhibits and activities are free and open to the public.

I, too, am a breast cancer survivor, stage 2 @ 41 -- 5 year mark in April 2010.

It occurred to me being a part of the agreenerindiana.com network, we could be mutually beneficial in advancing Living Green concepts by sharing our programs, strategies, ideas. We, for example, are partnering this year with IVY TECH and will have webinar resources to share information and the seminars with other IVY TECH campuses. Our goal is to have a Friday educational emphasis (although we're probably not going to get it done this year) that could interest primary and secondard school students and be a "field trip" experience.
If you are planning to have the Green Expo as an annual event and are interested in talking about it and sharing ideas, let me know. I'll be glad to come over to So Bend and meet with your organizers and have a "think tank" exchange.
But, it will have to be after the GREEN HOMES ON PARADE event from Sept 18-27 - THAT is now taking 110% of my time!

Sustainability requires a mutual economic, social-political, and environmental equilibrium and is interconnected to many arenas within the multi-facets of society.
