Plastic bags: To pay or not to pay

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/feb/22/plastic-bags-pay

This is one of the must read topics from the Washington Times today, other than ' Inside the Beltway' which really blows me away. While I am still trying to wrap my head around that government conspiracy theorcy post, I will deal with the plastic bag issue, and whether to pay, or not, for our plastic shopping bags.

I was going to title it hang em' and hang them high... but that didn't seem appropriate. Good grief NHAs get in the loop and re-look over, re-do your covenants. We haven't had any problems with hanging out laundry, yet, but we live in a part of town that is less restrictive, except for the old ladies(old thinking) running the NA do patrol, and do not like our "weeeeds"(actually wildflowers and other native plantings that screen our hanging laundry)

Reams of data, 1 conclusion for Indiana: At the bottom

A colorful mural at the state agency in charge of protecting Indiana's environment depicts images of serene nature alongside productive industry. It is an ideal green vision.

Yet on Earth Day, celebrated today in Indianapolis and around the world, experts say Indiana is far from that ideal -- further than almost… Continue

Indiana becomes the fastest growing state in Wind Energy!

Welcome to the first ever Indiana Wind Energy Week! In the last eighteen months, we have begun to embrace our full wind potential. In 2007 we did not produce any electricity from wind resources. In 2008 the Horizon Benton County Wind Farm, Indiana’s first commercial-scale wind farm, produced more than 130 megawatts (MW's) of home-grown renewable electricity. And we are projected to produce 836 MWs of wind-generated power, from four separate Hoosier Wind Farms, in 2009!! This astonishing growth r… Continue

Thanks.... Adding music content would be great. Let's play with the idea and see where it leads.
I know I have intentions of playing around with the idea of blogging radio content, interviews, news and sustainability focused break downs of the programs. Possibly even look at placing pod casts for download on how to hot topic stuff.
I think a major piece to what we need here in Indiana is a consistent medium to reach more and more people driving awareness and growth of the everyday public to what it means to live green and why more can do so in very easy ways. Decreasing Indiana's Carbon Footprint is a big goal.
My hope is that the radio station can become an additional rally point, or a focal point if you will, of synergistic flow to build up, support and grow what has been happening in the (almost) underground of Indiana. Example of what you have created here is awesome. With conscious support, brain storming, collaboration I believe we can achieve more over the next 5 years than the last 15.

Finding support for public radio projects can be tough in the beginning yet with the right introductions, the proper networking we can easily make this a viable media outlet to serve the greater good. Big misconceptions is that most business minded folks attach the same thought line to public radio as they do commercial radio and don't understand how affordable it is. We build on the concept of many verse big budget players, it brings about extremely good advantages business wise, tax wise, and public exposure wise. Also with a few months under our belt there are grants we can possibly attach that will sustain the radio station for awhile as well as purchase some things that are very needed like a slightly used digital transmitter etc.

OOOOPS! I've been ranting again. LOL
Thanks again for all you do, the forum and focus you maintain that has created strong building blocks to a Greener Indiana!

Thanks! I've worked very hard to create a useful Web site that shows people how to make art by reusing materials. This is especially important for those with little money, mostly teachers, but the process saves energy, natural resources, and landfill space, too.

Right now I'm working on organizing a recycled art show. With nearly two dozen participating artists, I think we have the beginnings of a group devoted to "upcycling or repurposing" materials, so I'll pass along info about this site. I'm glad to be a part of it.
